The Tortoise and The Hare

Saturday 2nd November 2013

By Paul Henderson

In earlier posts I outlined my excitement at the impending launch of EMAIL PROFIT EXPLOSION.  While in the next post there was perhaps just a hint of exasperation at the fame and fortune I see others enjoying, compared to the endless delays that seem be delaying my chance to sample the sweet smell of success.

By now things have progressed somewhat, and the next step is certain, yet uncertain at the same time.  Hmmm …. let me explain.

Included as part of the bonus for buying one of my WPAB packages through John Thornhill’s link, I get the chance to have him do a broadcast or two to his mega-sized list of over 200,000 subscribers.  But more importantly he’ll help me get together a decent group of JV partners, which as you know can make or break a launch.  And I know my coach and friend Marc Milburn is happy to help in a similar way once we get everything ready, as is the exemplary Randy Smith who I bought the other WPAB package thru.

So that’s the certainty.  It will happen, and it should happen well.

Now for the uncertainty, which unfortunately comes in the form of yet more delays.

Marc already mentioned he has a launch coming up which I naturally have to steer around.  And after discussions with John, I discover that he too has obligations too that will necessitate me leaving the launch of my EPE product until late Jan or even early Feb of 2014.

But that’s ok.  Here’s why…

From now on I’m choosing to look at things differently.  From now on, just like the unlikely pair in the title of this post, I’m taking the role of – you guessed it – the Tortoise.

And it actually makes me feel more settled about the whole thing. For example, I know that the Launch will come soon enough.  And if I’m patient, if take my time, and if I ensure everything is prepared as well as it can possibly be, then with a bit of luck and the wind behind me, it should go off with at least a bit of a bang, if not the full 21 Gun Salute !

Both Marc and John have looked over the product and reckon it could do quite well.  There are never any guarantees of course.  But as we all know a great product can flop through lack of proper prep and marketing, while a not so great product can do well if everything is done right, the product looks pretty good, and the marketing gets off to a great start.

For my first launch, I’m aiming to get everything as right as it can be before the big day of course.

So that’s it.  A short post by my standards.

For now, I’m gonna get working on my pre-launch stuff – like finding JV partners and getting it up on the relevant JV noticeboards.

    Hey Paul,

Sounds like things at progressing well mate. I got in with John’s bonus too, not that I’ve anything to promote just yet but it’ll be a great boost for when I do and also it means I’ll have to make sure I knuckle down and get something ready!

I’m at an Internet Marketing Summit here in Manchester right now. It’s giving me plenty of ideas and I’m looking forward to getting a lot more motivating and useful content from it.

    Regards,
    Glenn

      Hi Glenn,

thanks for taking time out of your busy Marketing Summit day. I lived in Manchester immediately before coming out here many years ago. Loved the place! My advice to you would be to march on with your product quite quickly Glenn, as I’m pretty sure most of the ‘good’ bonuses like product promotion and building affiliates etc, have to be used within 6 months from purchase.

How is the summit going? Any notable faces there with you? Boy, I wish I could come across at the drop of a hat, but it’s a little tricky from here.

All the best Glenn, and thanks for commenting once again. Have a great summit buddy 🙂

        Hey Paul,

Yep, you’re right about the bonuses, hence why I need to make sure I focus on getting things done. I’ll do it, don’t worry 😉

There’s been some good content at the summit. Not a huge number of speakers who I’m familiar with but Dean Holland’s speaking this afternoon and we had Simon Coulson yesterday who was great to listen to.

Keep up the great work, Paul 🙂

          Glenn,

I did it – I got round to changing my details for all my important sites finally. I do actually feel much happier now knowing that my sites are protected by a strong username and password.

Thanks for the reminder buddy 🙂

    Hi Paul,

I have seen your first report, and loved it. I am sure that with your dedication and hard work it is now even better. Sometimes we need to be patient, and let things take their own turn. Being a tortoise works where there is a will to succeed, and a lot of action taking, as it is in your case. I believe that your upcoming launch will go with a bang, and a good one, especially with Marc and John on your side. All the best with it! 🙂

    Kind wishes,

      Hey Galina,

thanks so much for visiting once again and sharing your thoughts. Well if action taking is anything to go by, then maybe I dare hope for it to be successful, because in fairness to myself, I have taken lots of it over the past year. Fingers crossed Galina. Tell you what, I’ll send you a PM with a link and you can see what you think. How’s that!

All the best to you too Galina.

    Hey Paul,
Sounds like you are doing well with things! As you say, having to ‘delay’ the launch a little bit longer will give you that peace of mind that you have time to thoroughly check that everything is working as it should be – nothing worse than rushing things only to find out that something isn’t working out as planned. I ended up rushing a squeeze page / freebie front-end sales funnel a few months ago to get a rushed slot in a certain marketers solo-ad calendar only to find out that my squeeze page didn’t show properly (specifically my opt-in web form) on a certain popular web browser – was gutted! Given time, I’d have tested it more thoroughly. I’ll definitely be watching your launch closely, as hopefully mine will be happening a few months afterwards.

    Cheers,
    James

PS I also bought 2 copies of WPAB just for the bonuses!

      Hey James,

thanks for stopping by and commenting matey – sincerely appreciate it.

Other peeps have said I seem to be progressing well, too. Maybe it’s only me that doesn’t see it yet – lol

Initially I wasn’t happy with the extra delay. Being told I couldn’t launch til early next year was killer at first. But after a very short time, as you pointed out, I realised it does give me time to double and triple check everything. As it is, I’ve had instances where all of a sudden for reasons unknown, a link disappears or I find something that I should have checked but somehow didn’t.

It is going to be an exciting couple of months in the lead up, and I still have so much to do with regard to getting JVs etc. I’m also pressed for time getting drip fed content loaded up into my monthly membership site. There’s a small handful of peeps going through that from the first blast of traffic that came from John Thornhills original mailout.

It seems like there’s always heaps to do, but I imagine we’ll get there in the end.

What niche is your product in James if you don’t mind me asking?

      Cheers for now,

      Paul

        Hey Paul,
It is going to be in the IM niche, but with a strong emphasis on the mindset part. Early days yet, but the stuff I am researching/learning now is also helping me progress with getting things sorted even better than before – kinda like an upwards spiral! At this rate, by the time the product is ready I’ll end up making Tony Robbins look like a procrastinating slacker, haha!

          Hey James,

I’m sure your product has the potential to do well. As you say, TR hasn’t done at all badly out of it hey. He didn’t even seem to flinch when half the people who walked across the hot coals got their tootsies badly burned – lol.

When your product is ready, I’d really recommend you access a copy of the recently released “WP Affiliate Builder” product by Omar Martin and Dave Nicholson for the run down on how to prepare for your lunch – sorry, launch – for maximum take up. Get the $47 version and you get unlimited use of their really cool JV Blog builder WP plugin that allows you to build your JV Blog ultra quick. Aha – good thinking. I also got 2 copies. The bonuses alone were huge from these guys. Just be sure to get them used. I think JT wants his used within 6 months. Don’t waste them 🙂

Actually, I would roll this out now and see how it converts. Once you know the numbers, it will be easier for you to secure JV partners because you have the information they want to know – how well does it convert?

    🙂

      Hey Bonnie,

you’re right in your thinking. But let me explain something. To get it off to the best possible start, I’ll get assistance from UK marketer John Thornhill who is going to broadcast to his mega sized list for me. He’ll also help me procure JV partners from his own list and using his own personal recommendation. The deal I have with him is purely as a bonus for buying a product through him recently, but among other things is that he’ll keep asking his affiliates to mail for me until I have 1000 JVs on my list.

Plus there are all sorts of other things that are really cool too.

BUT, the problem is that he can’t fit me in until late Jan/early Feb as I’ve said.

I did mention about sending some FB ads to the offer to get EPC figures to use when I try to recruit my own JVs very soon. He thought that was a good enough idea, but told me to be sure not to over-do it, thinking that when a product is billed as being new, then it shouldn’t really be already floating round with loads of users.

I know what he means, but I agree with you, it would be good to get some idea about conversions. Actually, JT already sent out a first mailout for me a couple of months ago, and the EPC wasn’t crash hot. That’s why I’ve totally revamped the product. I’ve added much more value and reduced the price to half what it was. But I also have more upsells in the sales funnel too. All this is an attempt to make it more available to people and thereby increasing the EPC for JVs.

I hope all that makes sense Bonnie. And thank you for your interest in my product. Sincerely appreciate it 🙂

      Kind regards,

      Paul

I understand where you’re coming from, but how can John promote a product if he doesn’t know how it converts? That’s what people (JV partners) are interested in.

Nothing against you Paul, but this sounds like those “scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” type of marketing and it’s really not something I participate in.

I hope you do well with your product launch, but I’ll be honest – unless I know how a product converts, I don’t jump on the band wagon. 🙁

          Hey Bonnie,

Look, I totally understand what you mean here, and I’m not taking any offence at the things you’re saying. they are very valid points after all. And I have to say that I agree with you. However, John Thornhill is the multi squillionaire here, not me, so if he says he can help me get this thing moving, I’m not gonna be the one to tell him he might have it wrong!

The truth is, I don’t know how it will pan out Bonnie, and I did say to John that I should probably send some FB traffic to the offer to try to get an EPC figure. To which he basically replied that it mightn’t be a bad idea, but that if a product is to go thru a ‘launch’, then it really needs to be a new product – not one that’s already doing the rounds.

So I have to admit, I’m kind of in his hands at the moment. I really hope to be able to tell you that it all went incredibly well in a couple month’s time Bonnie 🙂 But ‘che sera sera’ and all that.

Thanks for your valuable comments and thoughts Bonnie. Seriously appreciate your time.

          Cheers,
          Paul

    Hi Paul,

I’ll be looking forward to your upcoming launch. .

It appears you’ve pretty much put your eggs in John’s basket. This is why you’ve bought his product. This is the reason why I’m also with John as my mentor.

It would seem a bit foolish for either of us not to use his expertize as he as launched numerous products and been successful at it.

Perhaps, a few years down the line, we’ll be in a different place where we’ll be able to call the shots but at this time it’s best to be patient and go with the proven method.

I think you’re doing the right thing.

      Hey Guy,

thanks for dropping in and commenting buddy. Well I’m not sure that I’d say I have all my eggs in John’s basket, but I sure see what you mean – lol. The fact is that he has a LOT to offer, and his contribution could seriously propel my launch big time. If I went down a more conventional path, I already have some JVs and I could get a whole lot more. But JT knows exactly what’s required, and it could cut out an expensive part of the learning curve.

So you’re totally right Guy – we may one day be able to call the shots. For now, patience IS a virtue, as they used to say, and I’m happy to be guided by his wisdom and expertise in things IM.

Thanks for your kind words or support matey 🙂

      Cheers,
      Paul

Good luck with your product launch Paul and I look forward to hearing more about it.

Although it’s disappointing to have to wait, we’ll soon be drowning in Christmas and perhaps better to wait until the new year when people are keen to increase their income to pay off their bills!

    Keep us posted 🙂

      Hi Joy,

thanks so much for your good wishes. In fact I was in touch with my good mate John Thornhill just last evening and although we were able to set a date, it was even later than I’d dare to think. The thing is, he knows so much about this stuff that I can’t help but think I’d be mad not to have him as launch manager with all the benefits he can pull into the equation. For example, one of the things he’ll do is to find affiliates and not stop until he’s got me 1000 ! So can you imagine how much product 1000 affiliates mailing to their lists could pull off? And he certainly has a name that people will listen to.

So it may be delayed longer than I would have hoped originally, but as he points out, once I have the thing set up, I can just get on with my next product in whatever spare time is left.

Thanks for your thoughts Joy, and I wish you well in your endeavors too 🙂

The tortoise probably never eventually profited like you will Paul!

Even though this is my very first visit to you blog. I believe I originally found you by way of James Robson’s blog.

The fact that you have and are being exposed to all the behind scenes pre -launch issues and very real concerns.

That fact alone, makes for a potentially profitable future case study type of video/special report product that you can either sell outright or give it away as a powerful free bonus gift or use it to generate testimonials, or likes on your Facebook fan page etc.

The fact of the matter is,launches of any kind are always incredibly exciting and extremely nerve racking as well. As you no doubt have already discovered first hand..

And the average marketer, usually has no earthly idea all that’s involved with putting a successful one together.

So for that potential reason alone, that (hopefully) somewhere down the road in the not too distant future, you will pull back the proverbial curtain and share all or at least part of the juicy insider details!

And I definitely look forward to that!

I’ll definitely be back! Until, take care! And the best with all of your future launches!
